When we compare ourselves it totally zaps our confidence and in many ways it takes our power away.
When comparing ourselves to others we may think they are happier, more successful or have something we want. The reality is you will never know what is happening in someone else’s life.
Other times you may compare yourself physically to someone else, wishing you had their skin, legs or other feature… but the truth is you don’t. You are YOU! You are unique and nobody else is exactly like you.
Know that comparing is a problem for a lot of people, especially because of social media.
Here Are a Few Tips to Help You Stop the Comparing
1. Remember you don’t really know the truth about what’s happening in someone’s life.
2. Remind yourself that you are special because there it only one of you exactly the way you are.
3. Take back what you are projecting to others. When you think someone else is better than you, you are basically giving your power away. You are projecting on to them and giving them your light… take it back! You have it in you, you just need to learn how to access it. Become aware of who you are comparing yourself to, and as soon as you catch yourself comparing stop and tell yourself there is only one me. It doesn’t matter if a thousand people are doing the same thing as you because they are not you.
4. Lastly, acknowledge yourself. At the end of each day write down 10 to 15 things that you can acknowledge yourself for. They can be small things like you exercised, you did something nice for someone or you finished a project you had been procrastinating on. Just write those down at the end of the day and you will start seeing how great you’re doing. This will help you feel so much better about yourself and keep you from comparing yourself to others and appreciate yourself more.
